Weglot pioneered the CNAME-based translation pattern and nailed the no-code install. Linguify takes the same approach — one DNS change, SEO subdirectories, visual in-context editor — and rebuilds it on newer AI: Google Translation LLM by default, with Gemini, Claude, GPT and DeepL available as per-site overrides. Pricing sits roughly 50% below Weglot tier-for-tier, and the free plan is permanent instead of a 10-day trial.
you're already on their platform and the migration cost outweighs the ~$300/year you'd save, or you need their built-in human proofreading marketplace (Linguify doesn't offer that yet).
you're starting today, want to pick the translation engine per language, need a genuinely free tier (permanent, no card), or just want to cut your translation bill in half.

Identical SEO output
Both products serve real /es/, /fr/, /de/ subdirectories with server-rendered HTML, automatic hreflang and per-language canonical tags. Either one passes Google Search Console's international targeting checks. On SEO specifically, there's no meaningful difference — the rest of this page is about price and flexibility.
The AI-provider choice matters more than it sounds
Weglot uses a single translation backend. Linguify exposes six (Google Translation LLM, Gemini, Claude, GPT, DeepL, Google NMT), selectable per site or per language. Technical content (docs, changelogs, error messages) often translates noticeably better on Claude or GPT; marketing copy on Gemini; EU-regulatory copy on DeepL. You don't have to commit upfront — switch the provider, re-warm the site, done.
The free tier is actually free
Weglot's free plan is technically a 10-day trial: after that, you need a paid subscription or the widget stops translating. Linguify's free plan is permanent — 2,000 words, 1 language, SEO subdirectories and the visual editor stay forever, no credit card required to start. Good for hobby sites, personal portfolios, or evaluating the product on a real page before committing.
Migrating from Weglot
Import your existing Weglot glossary as JSON or CSV from the Linguify dashboard. Linguify reuses your approved translations as the source of truth, so your live /es/, /fr/, /de/ URLs keep ranking as you swap the CNAME. Budget 30 minutes for the migration itself; DNS propagation adds 5 to 60 minutes.
